Nyepi Contemplation
I was with my grandpa yesterday. I complained a lot about everything. Mainly about my never ending research for undergrad thesis.
He just sat there, wearing a brown nerdy sweater, chuckling. His shady dark eyes were warm.
“What's so funny?” I asked.
“Since you were a kid. You were always complaining about the red lights. Never thanked the green ones.” he replied.
I know what he meant, but i had to complain.
“Of course i do. Which light do you think keep people moving forward?” I debated.
My grandpa, patient still, softly answered, “… and which light do you think keep you from crashing?”
I silenced.
It was a split second before i almost argued, “Not any light, my car will keep me alive”
As stubborn as always.
But i held that thought. Best decision of the day.
